Making More backgorunds

This lesson we went into Photoshop to create and image for a parallax background for our potential games. At the start we created a 600x400px page using the Shift+F5 we filled a new layer called sky in blue, we then added a gradient by double clicking the layer and adding a gradient. Using the Pen tool we made mountains and foliage. using the Markee tool we made the city scape then added a moon and addeda glow to that moon.

My Website Creative Idea


I made a moodboard of the things that I preferably liked
For my idea for the website is to create an image background that gradually gets bigger as you scroll. The background is going to be an image that I created of some sort of fiery creature that flames get gradually more intense as the picture gets bigger. My Heading for my website would simply say my company name or my in game name. The first page would have and about me and a contact page on on the side would be all my projects which once clicked shows another page with another varied background maybe relating to the work.

Movement

For my dungeon idea I wanted to recreate the Diablo style hack and slash but at first I need to work on figuring out how to create the right click to move mechanic for my game. I spent some time trying to figure out how yo make it then decided that YouTube was my best online source to help me figure out how to make it. The tutorial showed me how to create the right click to move rather well and helped me into completing this.
This first bit of code defines player movement using the step effect and the first line of code implements the adding of Mouseclick sprite



third piece of code shows that if the sprite Mouse does not exist to create instance Mouseclick

This code is to align the Mouseclick into the game

this defines if the player is on the image to make it invisible unless its visable

work

Today we worked on creating concept landscape designs in Photoshop, for this we used the magic tool to create a brush. First i got an image of a cloud went over with the Magic Tool and then Edit to Define Bush preset and imprinted a fresh page with some clouds and then repeated this with a castle, hill and tree. I placed the hills first then the castle in the middle then more hills then trees in the foreground. This is a great way to make quick concept guidelines to create some art work for your game or what ever it is you are designing.

there are 4 entities on this screenshot. 3 sprites character, the boss and the floor and the other being the background.

The game mechanic here is collecting the puzzle piece and having the animation feel more interactive to the player. The cannon firing is also 2 sprites the cannon and the cannon ball, the cannon ball doing damage to the player on hit. interactive alders are also shown in this, when player walks towards he is lifted using a second sprite to show him looking like hes climbing it

The game mechanic shown is the player, falling and when its sprite collides with the plat form of spikes it kills the player.

The picture shows multiple things happening at once, the 2 Sprites cannon and cannon ball and the enemies around. The game mechanic here is slowing everything down in the ball thats around the player.

unit 3

Skyrim tells a tale of Dovahkin a customized character that is born with dragon powers surging through his/her veins. The setting is in the region of Tamriel called Skyrim, the landscape mostly plains, hills, and mountains in certain area have beautiful nature life and in other area there snow covered ice waste lands. Skyrim was my first Elder Scroll game and when i jumped right into it on the outside it was beautiful it was gorgeous and it ran well, however there wasnt any clear indication of where to go after the tutorial so for a good 10min of the game i was left running around the land of skyrim wondering where the dragons are at until i realised at hte top of the screen there was a navigation bar it was rather small to see and wasnt ever pointed out in the game, i felt rather stupid but also thought it could of been pointed out. There were multiple glitches in the game an wasnt very fleshed out which didnt really change the atmosphere of the game but more enhanced the enjoyment as a Mammoth falls from the sky and instantly kills you. But form a designer aspect this is a flaw in the game design and mechanics.

Ghost

This is le ghost I made using illustrator. During last years course i completed what we were supposed to do today already so Owen said I should try more advanced techniques like free form tool but also used the eclipse tool to make the eyes. I made random shapes and decided what it looked like form my own imagination and it looked to me like a ghost so i stuck with it and made this.
